Intro

If the government has not done so already, it won’t take long to circumvent the holding of United States v. Jones. In Jones, the Supreme Court held that the government cannot track a suspect with a GPS device unless it has a valid warrant. However, given the large number of requests that phone carriers receive from law enforcement agencies on a yearly basis, and new developments in RFID technology, the holding in Jones will be obsolete if consumers continue to trade privacy for convenience.
