One of the simplest ways to reduce the degree of tracking associated with your activities online is to stop sending location information to google all the time. A good start towards doing that is to a) not be logged into google and b) run firefox with the NoScript extension, which will prevent websites you visit from running javascript when you view their pages (unless you allow them). Once you do that you will likely be surprised at the number of sites routinely running run scripts from google.
