I came to law school because I find that a career in law offers the best opportunity to combine intellectual pursuits and active engagement in contemporary affairs. Justice Holmes observed that “as life is action and passion, it is required of a man that he should share the passion and action of his time at peril of being judged not to have lived.” I want to use my legal career to join in the “action and passion” of my time. This sounds terribly vague because it is. I just read in Eben’s introduction about the idea of knowing exactly what you want and exactly how to get it. I am hoping to find some direction towards this in these next few years.
