The future promises both great change and great opportunity proportional to that change. New historical developments and new inventions demand new legal rules and new precedents that will bend how those historical developments and inventions influence society. Law school will provide the opportunity to be a part of that future development. More so than any other career for which I am suited, I think that a legal career will allow me to do interesting cutting-edge work. That is exciting.

It's a brutal world out there. Many talented artists barely scrape by and eventually have to abandon their artistic vision, because not enough people get on board with what they are trying to create. This is a great tragedy. If I throw myself out into the world, armed with some new legal interpretations and a desire to effect a social change, will I succeed? If I scorn working for someone else and hazard out upon my own, armed only with my own wits and a keen sense of justice, will I be able to wrestle enough measly dollar bills to buy some bread? I don't know. I hope so, though.
