Having lived in a lawless country (Haiti in the 90's), I grew to appreciate the importance of America’s legal system. Choosing to pursue a legal career upon graduation embiggened me with a sense of purpose and the feeling of being part of the fabric holding society together.

The best quote I've read thus far in law school is: "The logical consistency of a juridical conception will indeed be sacrificed at times, when the sacrifice is essential to the end that some accepted public policy may be defended or upheld." --Cardozo
