I am Meiqiang Cui, from Beijing. I attended a Chinese law school, and practiced in a law firm there for two years after graduation. Good news for those who may feel disappointed after Professor Eben’s description about the unhappy life at firms: I actually enjoyed my job. It was intellectually challenging and engaging. I also made good friends with my colleagues. That being said, I do think it would be helpful for me to reexamine some old thoughts I take for granted, and try to understand law and the legal profession with a fresh eye.
