The Index is getting crowded. I suggest we gather topics into "header" topics. We could distribute Topics among sub-headings, like Justin did.

But this idea is premature, and a bit presumptuous (I am told). I suppose you can't write an index until you know what the ideas are you're indexing. I should wait and see what refactoring looks like.

(Or someone could make a single "ZagatGuide," distributing Topics among sub-headings ("Lawyering and Social Change," "Texts," "Class Notes," "Student Essays," "Wiki & Class Logistics," "Intros," "Miscellaneous") like Justin did. Better yet, maybe Eben could let us use the bottom of WebHome.)

Lawyering: Its Personal, Social, & Global roles

edit this like it's wikipedia

BalancingWork: RE ClassNotes16Jan08 & ClassNotesJan24 (most of us will go to law firms): should we?
DeathOfUSPrisonSystem: RE ClassNotesJan23 ("does criminal law do more harm than good?"): drug convictions need to be restructured
DoingGoodWork: RE ClassNotesJan23 ("to make things happen in society using words, you need to take risks"): is there a more self-sustaining (less risky?) way than public interest law?
ColumbiaLawLOANSSSS: RE ClassNotesJan23 ("to make things happen in society using words, you need to take risks"): is there a more self-sustaining (less risky?) way than public interest law?
DutyandResponsibility: RE ClassNotesJan23 (No intro said "duty," "responsibility," or "risk"): Is that good?
MeditationAsMind-Exercise : RE ClassNotesJan23 (Why do Buddhists do better in law school?): The mind is the best coat (you can change your mind & body's biology through meditation)
OptionsandHopeReMentalIllness: RE ClassNotes31Jan08 (Donaldson is an example of _): Comparing a "right" to treatment, a "right" to freedom (Donaldson), and a "right" to free housing, necessities, and transportation
PerspectivesinLaw: RE ClassNotes16Jan08 & ClassNotes17Jan08 (Eben's goals for this class): Relating these to our own goals.
TortureAndWholeProof: RE ClassNotesJan30? & TextDiscussionCohenandFrank (transcendental nonsense is _): can we justify torture morally or ethically, or are the Pros and Cons all "legal nonsense"?

I suggest we link to related topics from a single "header" topic. We could add one sentence summarizing the lecture or text the Topic responds to, and the question it poses in response, to encourage new Topics to justify their relevance to the class. For example, note how hard it is to paraphrase our discussions of "Lawyering And Social Change" as responses to Topics on readings.

I suggest we organize related topics by linking to them from a "header" topic.
